Summary of events

Big apology to all international friends. We have no excuse and no explanation how is it possible that time runs instead goes and months fly instead pass slowly by. Christmas is long way behind and Easter within a stone´s throw. We have stepped forward to the year 2009 in Auckland and since that time we have been travelling and travelling. First month of this year was big and very interesting experience together. We spent January in Fiji, visiting families at their homes, we were living completely different life for 3 weeks. Background of Fiji inhabitants, their life conditions, environment or hardwork for small money has nothing in common with Fiji from advertising leaflets and touristic resorts and hotels like most of people know. Weather has proved that it still plays the key part in the game called life and big floods we have experienced contributed to the fact that we were very close with aborigines and had a lot of time to listen people´s stories and learn a lot of their wisdom, way of thinking and behaviour. Our favourite family from Lautoka-town in main island called Viti Levu showed us that both hapiness and wealth have their base in good heart, open mind and generosity. We can say that in few hours we had felt there like being at home with well-known people and in spite of the fact that we did not see as much as we wished from the nature beauty Fiji was great, enriching and unigue. After our return to Auckland we had exchanged Subaru for Herman-Mitsubishi van with the soul of traveller and bed instead of seats at the back and that was the beginning of our way towards New places in New Zealand. We have seen countless numbers of beautiful places, interesting natural phenomenon, waterfalls, lakes, beaches, annoying sandflies, volcanoes, mountains, glaciers... we would say everything we could only imagine. The ferry we took from Wellington (capital city) to Picton has opened the gate to the less populated south island. We have been walking a lot, panning the gold, observing penguins, sea lions, dolphins, fur seals and other animals at their wild natural homes, meeting more tourists than domestic inhabitants etc. You can see everything in our photo albums on the right side of the page. We had been working in glacier village Franz Josef for two weeks as housekeepers, gardeners and while this time our friend from France had arrived to join our expedition and see the beauty of Fjorland, Invercargil, Dunedin and as much as we could see during his three weeks long holiday. It was our pleasure to have him here and we had a lot of fun inspite of the fact that he won all our dice competitions:o). We got used to life in the Herman and freedom, independence and responsibility linked with it that we have not been looking for any accomodation for 2months. At the end of March it was a good time to make up our mind and decide where to settle down. The choice was quite easy as we both liked Wanaka the most and that´s why we are writing our story in this wonderful town surrounded by mountains, lying on the lakefront and welcoming sunny weather despite the early autumn date. More or less by good luck we have found lovely couple of local residents to live with for first three weeks and we are looking for some jobs and things which give the shape to our current life.
